About BMLT

Trains the technologist who runs the clinical laboratory — haematology, biochemistry, microbiology, histopathology and blood banking — rather than the doctor who interprets the result. Karnataka colleges teach three years and then place students in a one-year internship, which is why the same qualification is advertised as three years by some and four by others; the degree is awarded on the taught years, so both descriptions are accurate. It is also offered as a two-year diploma (DMLT), a different and shorter qualification.
