A KEA-counselled engineering seat costs ₹47,100 a year in a government college and ₹1,20,320 in a Type-1 private college for General Merit — but ₹0 for SC and ST candidates with family income up to ₹10 lakh, in either. The fee depends on category and income, which is the part the single headline number always hides.

The GM column also applies to SC/ST candidates with family income above ₹10 lakh and Category-1 candidates above ₹2.5 lakh. SC/ST figures are for income up to ₹10 lakh; Category-1 up to ₹2.5 lakh.
What is already inside these numbers
- University fee — ₹12,320 for engineering, ₹13,070 for architecture, already included above.
- For Architecture, ₹750 is extra over the figures above.
- ₹10,000 + ₹590 miscellaneous is included above for government and aided engineering colleges.
- ₹20,000 as other fees is included above for un-aided and private / deemed university engineering colleges.
- Not included: hostel, food, deposits, and anything a college charges outside the government-prescribed structure.

- What does a KCET engineering seat cost in 2026-27?
- ₹47,100 a year in a government college and ₹1,20,320 in a Type-1 un-aided private college, for General Merit — both including university and other prescribed fees. UVCE is listed separately at ₹56,500, and government Mechanical, Textile, Silk Technology, Civil and Automobile branches are cheaper at ₹29,985.
- Do SC/ST and Category-1 candidates pay the same?
- No, and this is the column most people never see. SC and ST candidates with family income up to ₹10 lakh pay ₹0 — in government, aided, un-aided and private colleges alike. Category-1 candidates with income up to ₹2.5 lakh pay a reduced fee (₹22,950 in a government college). Above those income thresholds, the General Merit column applies instead.
- What is the SNQ column?
- The Supernumerary Quota — extra seats with the government tuition fee waived, open to any candidate including General Merit under ₹8 lakh family income. The figure in that column is what remains payable (university and other fees), not the full tuition.
- Why do private colleges show two different figures?
- KEA splits un-aided colleges into Type-1 (₹1,20,320) and Type-2 (₹1,30,320) but does not publish which college is in which tier. Where this site shows a single per-college figure, it uses the lower Type-1 amount and says so — rather than silently picking the higher one.
- Is this the fee I will actually pay?
- It is the fee for a seat allotted through KEA counselling. A COMEDK or management-quota seat at the same college is set separately and costs substantially more. Hostel, food and deposits are not in these figures at all.
