Arts is the strongest foundation for law, civil services, journalism, social work and psychology — and it is consistently underrated. Karnataka has excellent arts colleges, particularly in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Dharwad.
What to know before choosing
- 1BA with Economics, Political Science or History is the standard route towards civil services and postgraduate study.
- 2The five-year integrated BA LL.B is the fastest route into law and requires CLAT or a university entrance test.
- 3BJMC and journalism programmes lead into media, content and communications — a large employment sector in Bengaluru.
- 4BSW and MSW lead into the development sector, CSR and medical social work.
- 5Arts students can also take BBA, B.Com and BCA at most Karnataka colleges, though some require Mathematics at Class 12 for BCA.
