BPT in Bangalore Does Not Need NEET: The Actual Admission Route

Physiotherapy is a health-science course, so it is widely assumed that getting into it needs NEET. In Karnataka it does not. BPT admission runs through the Karnataka Examinations Authority's UGCET counselling — the process most people call KCET — and NEET has no part in it. Nor does any entrance exam: KEA's bulletin puts BPT among the courses with "NO Entrance Exam", selected "based on PU Marks".

This matters because the two routes are not interchangeable, and preparing for the wrong one costs a year.

What the official record shows

Our register holds 420 verified BPT closing merit positions for Bangalore colleges, across 47 colleges, every one of them transcribed from KEA's own UGCET 2025 allotment publication. Not one of them is a NEET rank. There is no NEET-based BPT allotment in the Karnataka counselling record at all.

Those 2025 General Merit figures — positions on KEA's PU-marks merit list, not ranks on an exam — run from 7,417 at the tightest college to 214,306 at the widest. That spread is the useful part: physiotherapy in Bangalore is not one admission standard but a range wide enough that a position which closes no doors at one college is comfortable at another.

The route, step by step

1. Register for CET. There is no entrance exam to sit for BPT, but registering for CET is what makes a candidate eligible to take part in KEA's counselling — the bulletin makes that registration compulsory. The merit list is built from PU marks.
2. Qualify on the Class 12 subjects the college requires. Karnataka colleges generally ask for Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English. The exact percentage differs by college, and some colleges' own documents disagree with each other — where we have seen that, the college's fee page here says so rather than picking one.
3. Enter KEA counselling. Document verification, then option entry, then allotment by rank and category. The counselling tracker on this site follows the current cycle's dates.
4. Report to the allotted college.

What a KEA seat costs, and what the other door costs

KEA notifies the fee for a counselled BPT seat at Rs 8,250 a year for a government seat, in its UGCET 2026-27 provisional fee structure.

That is not what most students pay. The same colleges also fill seats directly, at prices they publish themselves, and those run into several lakh rupees for the full course. Both figures are real and both are published — they are prices for two different doors into the same building. About "direct admission" and management quota

Private colleges in Karnataka do fill part of their intake outside KEA counselling. That is a legitimate route with a published price, and it is not a way around the eligibility requirements: a candidate still needs the qualifying subjects and marks.

Be careful with anyone promising a guaranteed seat. Nobody outside the college and KEA allots one, and no site, agent or consultant can move a rank.

So do you need NEET for BPT in Karnataka?

No. You need a CET registration, the Class 12 science subjects, and PU marks that put you inside the range the college you want closed at last year.
