Beyond caste and income, KEA runs a set of special-category (horizontal) reservations — NCC, Sports, Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex-Defence, CAPF, Anglo-Indian, wards of J&K migrants and Persons with Disability. Each has its own eligibility and its own certificate from a named authority. Pick your category below for the exact rule.

Every guide here is transcribed from the KEA UGCET-2026 Information Bulletin (English), 17 January 2026 — sections 11 and 12, the special-category reservation clauses. One thing we deliberately leave blank: KEA’s bulletin gives the eligibility and the paperwork for each category but does not print most of their seat percentages, which are set by Rule 9 of the CET-2006 Admission Rules. We will not publish a figure the document does not state.

NCC

You hold an NCC ‘B’ Certificate earned while studying in Karnataka.

Sports

SPO

You have represented the State or the country in sport in the last three years.

Scouts & Guides

You received the President’s Award as a Scout or Guide while studying in Karnataka.

Defence

A parent is serving Defence personnel with a Karnataka connection.

Ex-Defence

A parent is an ex-serviceman with a Karnataka hometown declaration.

Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)

CAPF

A parent is CAPF personnel with a Karnataka hometown declaration.

Anglo-Indian

AGL

You are from the Anglo-Indian community in Karnataka.

Ward of Jammu & Kashmiri Migrants

You are the child of a Jammu & Kashmiri migrant family.

Persons with Disability (PwD)

PWD

You have a physical disability of 40% or more.

One rule that applies to all of them

If a seat reserved for any of these categories is not filled for want of an eligible candidate, the reservation to that extent stands reduced and the seat is transferred to the General Merit category after allotment.

These reservations are “subject to change / amendment” in the bulletin’s own words, and only achievements or status established up to the date of CET-2026 are counted. The bulletin for the year you apply in is the one that binds.
