In short
The NCC special category is for candidates who possess an NCC ‘B’ Certificate obtained during their five-year period of study in Karnataka between the 8th and 12th standards. Candidates are selected in a fixed order of preference, national-camp and Republic Day Camp achievers first, down to those holding only the ‘B’ Certificate.
Who qualifies
- Possess an NCC ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five-year period of study in Karnataka between the 8th and 12th standards.

- Selection runs in an eight-level order of preference: from Republic Day Camp ‘Best Cadet’ gold/silver/bronze medallists (Preference 1) down to candidates possessing only the ‘B’ Certificate (Preference 8). Gold is preferred to silver, silver to bronze.
The certificate, and who issues it

- The camp / medal / expedition certificates from the Director General, NCC that establish a higher preference, where claimed.
- The Karnataka study certificate from the head of the institution, for having studied and passed the qualifying examination in Karnataka (the bulletin requires this from NCC and Sports claimants).
How KEA verifies it
The Director of NCC or an authorised nominee attends KEA on the appointed days with the ranked list of eligible NCC candidates (preference 1–8) to assist selection. Certificates are submitted at the KEA office in Bengaluru on the notified dates.
How many seats?
What KEA actually put on the table: 38 NCC seats in the engineering seat matrix for Round 2, published 7 August 2026.
That is the count for one round of one stream, not the size of the reservation — a second-round matrix shows what remained after Round 1 allotment, with surrendered seats added back. It is published here because it is a real figure from an official document, which the percentage is not. KEA UGCET-2026 Second Round Provisional Seat Matrix, Engineering (published 07-08-2026).
Also worth knowing
- Only achievements made up to the date of CET-2026 are counted.
