- What is a spot round, and how is it different from a casual vacancy round?
- Both fill seats left over after the main rounds. A casual-vacancy or extended round runs through the usual online allotment on a fresh vacant-seat matrix; a spot round is typically offline and conducted late, often at the college or a designated centre. The names vary by exam and cycle, which is why the notification for that specific round is the only thing worth acting on.
- When do leftover rounds usually happen?
- After the main allotment rounds close — historically late August into September for Karnataka professional courses. This page carries no predicted dates: the round exists when its notification exists, and the moment one appears here it will carry its official link.
- Am I eligible for a leftover round if I already hold a seat?
- It depends on what you did after your last allotment. The choice you selected — and whether you paid and reported — governs whether you remain in the process. That is set out in KEA’s own brochure and in each round’s notification; read the choices explainer, then the current notification.
- Are leftover-round seats worse?
- They are the seats nobody took in earlier rounds, so closing ranks generally loosen — which is exactly why late-round candidates find options that were out of reach in Round 1. Whether a specific seat is worth taking is a question our verified round-wise cut-offs can actually inform.
